The Excelsior Pub Hosts First “Meet Your Maker” Event Featuring Schoharie County Beverage Trail

Meet-Your-Maker-1

Meet-and-greet style event directly follows Alive at Five on Thursday, June 9

Meet Your MakerALBANY, N.Y.—Craft beverage fans in the Capital Region will have the opportunity to sample the products of four local producers at The Excelsior Pub on Thursday, June 9. All members of the Schoharie County Beverage Trail—including Green Wolf Brewery, Kymar Farm Distillery & Winery, 1857 Spirits, and Royal Meadery—will be sharing their beer, wine, mead and spirits starting at 7 pm, directly after Alive at Five.

The event kicks off the summer Meet Your Maker series, sponsored by the Carey Institute for Global Good and Helderberg Brewery Incubator. Meet Your Maker events highlight the growing use of local ingredients, the high quality of regional beer and spirits, and the sense of community that is intrinsic to the industry, especially in New York State. The events are designed to be meet-and-greet style, allowing consumers to interact directly with local craft beverage producers.

“The Schoharie County Beverage Trail members were a perfect fit for our inaugural event,” said Greg Back, Helderberg Brewery assistant. “We’re also thrilled to partner with The Excelsior Pub for this summer Meet Your Maker series. The Excelsior Pub exclusively serves New York State craft beverages, so showcasing regional trails, like the one in Schoharie County, helps us perfectly align our goals.”

The Carey Institute partners with New York State craft beverage producers and businesses that have a commitment to supporting local agriculture for the Meet Your Maker series. By encouraging consumers to drink locally produced beer and wine, the craft beverage industry can not only positively affect New York State economies and agriculture, it can help put a true New York product on the map.

The Schoharie County Beverage Trail members were selected for the first Meet Your Maker series as each trail member strives to use local ingredients not only as a part of their business model, but as an integral part of their business ethos. Consumers who attend the Meet Your Maker event are encouraged to visit these craft beverage producers during the summer tourism months to support area small businesses.

The Meet Your Maker series will be held the second Thursday of every month at The Excelsior Pub throughout the summer. The July event will be held Thursday, July 14 and will feature another regional beverage trail.
