Scott Rodd
Scott Rodd (2015) is writing a book about the residents and community leaders of five of the poorest towns in America—Beattyville, KY; Jamestown, TN; Tchula, MS; Campti, LA; and Yanceyville, NC. From dozens of interviews and hundreds of photographs, he is creating a deep portrait of impoverished and forgotten corners of our country. The Washington Post recently ran on page one, an excerpt from his work. This detailed the story of a former mayor of Tchula, who was ousted from office and framed for murder.
Rodd is a freelance writer and photographer whose work also has appeared in the Washington Post, ThinkProgress, the New York Observer, Salon, and The Source, among other publications.
