Rachel Riederer (2020) is a reporter and essayist focusing on the intersection of science, culture, and the environment. She works on the editorial staff at The New Yorker, and as a freelancer writes regularly for The New Republic, The Nation and others. Until this past September, she was the editor in chief of Guernica, an online literary journal that publishes fiction, poetry, essays and reportage from around the world.
As a Logan fellow, she will be working on a longform magazine and book piece about three tribes—the Yurok, the Ojibwe and the Lakota—who are trying to give legal protections to wildlife.
