Nevanji Madanhire

Nevanji Madanhire (2018) is a national newspaper editor and pioneer of hyper-local video news. He has served as editor on two of Zimbabwe’s leading independent national newspapers-The Standard, a Sunday newspaper with a focus on political news, and the popular daily NewsDay.

During his career with both papers, he developed convergent digital-first strategies, taking responsibility for the print, online, and mobile platforms, along with social media outreach. Nevanji is known for his robust editorial direction based on accurate, fair, objective, and impartial coverage in a country where media freedom is frequently tested.

During his time as a Logan Nonfiction Program fellow, Nevanji will work on a documentary about waterless technology, exploring whether waterless toilets can be the solution to Zimbabwe’s perennial water woes in urban settlements.
