Frank Smyth (2019)is an award-winning freelance investigative journalist who has been covering the NRA for the past 25 years writing for The Village Voice, The Washington Post, Mother Jones, The Progress and the N.Y. Daily News. He has also covered armed conflicts, organized crime and human rights abuses in nations including El Salvador, Guatemala, Colombia, Iraq, Sudan, Rwanda, Eritrea and Ethiopia, writing for outlets including The Nation, Jane’s Intelligence Review, Foreign Affairs, World Policy Journal, Newsday, The New York Times, The Washington Post and The Wall Street Journal.
As a Logan Nonfiction Program fellow, Frank will be working on his book, “The NRA: The Unauthorized History,” which aspires to change the way the nation sees the NRA and reveal the organization’s own rich history that the modern leadership has long managed to conceal.
