Chantal Flores (2016 & 2018) is an award-winning freelance journalist and documentarian who has worked in Toronto, New York, Ghana, Guyana, Central America, and throughout Mexico. Her work has been published in Al Jazeera, Vice News, Rolling Stone México, In These Times, Vice Sports, and Vice México. She is a graduate of York University in Toronto, Canada.
During her time at the Carey Institute, Chantal will continue work on an investigation into the disappearance of some 27,000 people resulting from the Mexican narco wars, and the impact those deaths have had on the social order of families and communities. Her narrative is told through the eyes of parents searching for their disappeared children in several regions across the country.
