May Featured Artist: K. Velis Turan

From the artist: K. Velis Turan born and raised in the Washington DC area. She is a mixed media fiber artist now living and working in the Hudson Valley region of New York. Her artwork has been exhibited nationally and internationally.

She explores many surface-design techniques which include screen printing, fabric painting, photo transfer, free motion quilting and hand embellishing the whole-cloth surface of her work as well as 3-D fiber sculptures.

Prior to her career as a mixed media fiber artist, Velis Turan worked as an illustrator, graphic artist and art director. She has curated and juried all mediums and fiber arts exhibitions. More information can be found on her website: kvelisturan.com.

Turan’s work will be on display at the Guggenheim Gallery May 1-31.
