January Featured Artist: Courtney Stannard

caillteanasCourtney Stannard is an independent fine art photographer, screen printer, and documentary and event Photographer. She is a graduate of the College of Saint Rose with a baccalaureate in Studio Art.

Residing in Rensselaerville, Stannard’s work has been exhibited across the United States as well as Europe. Her work is featured in collections of galleries such as the Troy Photo Center and the Photographic Expressions Gallery of Troy. Her awards include a Burren College of Art Fellowship as well as a Stiwdio Maelor fellowship in Wales.

The Devine: Feast or Famine is a series based on Stannard’s family history in Ireland and the research based around the family name “Devine”. During this ancestry research and residency in Ireland, Stannard was able to track back in time and uncover her family homes, gravesites and history during The Great Famine – a period of mass starvation, emigration and disease beginning in 1845.

Courtney’s work will be on display at the Guggenheim Gallery January 1-31. Her opening reception will take place on Sunday, January 6 from 2-4. Click here for more details.
