
Ziyah Gafic
Ziyah Gafic (2018) is an award-winning photojournalist with 19 years of experience, focusing on societies in conflict and Muslim communities across the globe. He has covered major news stories in more than 50 countries; his work has appeared in TIME, Le Monde, The New York Times, GEO, The Sunday Times Magazine, La Repubblica, The Telegraph Magazine, The New Yorker and more.
Ziyah has authored five books including “Troubled Islam” and “Heartland.” His work has been honored with awards from World Press Photo, Visa pour l’image, Arles Rencontres de la photographie and grants from Magnum Foundation, Getty Images and the Prince Claus Fund. Ziyah is member of VII Photo Agency.
As a Logan Nonfiction Program fellow, Ziyah will work on “Quest for Identity,” a book-length photographic collection of personal effects unearthed from the mass graves of the victims of genocide in Srebrenica during the Bosnian War.
