Vi Nguyen
Vi Nguyen (2019) is a first-generation Vietnamese-American filmmaker, photographer and educator based in Brooklyn, New York. Her master’s project at the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University, “The Liberation of Nostalgia,” is a visual disruption in the collective notion and narrative of war’s memory.
She is now working in documentary filmmaking and photography education. Recently, she interned with Meerkat Media Collective and is currently at Blue Chalk Media. Most recently, she taught photography for National Geographic Expeditions, The New York Times Journeys, and the International Center for Photography. She is a member of Authority Collective, Diversify.Photo, Asian-American Documentary Network and Brown Girls Doc Mafia.
Vi is currently collaborating with filmmaker Ligaiya Romero on a documentary film about Asian Pacific American activism in the South.
