Saumya Roy
Saumya Roy (2019) is a journalist and social activist from Mumbai. India. She has written for Outlook magazine, Mint newspaper, Forbes India, among other publications. She is the co- founder of Vandana Foundation, which supports livelihoods of micro entrepreneurs in Mumbai and rural India.
She has received fellowships from Sangam House, the Rockefeller Foundation’s Bellagio Center and Blue Mountain Center to work on this project. She was also a Logan Nonfiction fellow at the Carey Institute in 2017.
As a Logan Nonfiction fellow, Saumya will work on her book about the garbage mountains of Mumbai, which are the largest untreated garbage dumps in the world
