Mauricio Morales

Mauricio Morales (2019) is a Colombian photo and video journalist who has been covering events in the Middle East since 2012, including in Syria, Turkey, Gaza, Libya, Lebanon and Iraq. His work has been published in The New York Times, Time Lightbox, TV5Monde, the Los Angeles Times, France 24 and The Guardian, among others.

As a Logan Nonfiction fellow, Mauricio will be working on a long-form documentary and photo series that examines the situation in San Turban, Colombia, a moorland area with water springs and protected environmental spaces where a large-scale gold mining project is set to begin operations this year. The project examines the environmental and human impact of the mine’s construction and opening—the largest of its kind in Colombia.
