Lee Van der Voo

Lee Van der Voo(2019) is an award-winning investigative and environmental journalist. Her book “The Fish Market: Inside the Big-Money Battle for the Ocean and Your Dinner Plate,” which chronicles the gentrification of the sea, was published by St. Martin’s Press in November 2016 and won an Oregon Book Award for General Nonfiction.

Lee’s work has appeared in numerous publications, including The New York Times, High Country News, TheAtlantic.com, Slate and The Guardian. Her work has been supported by significant awards and fellowships, including the Alicia Patterson Foundation Fellowship, an Investigative Reporters and Editors Award and the Lizzie Grossman Grant for Environmental Health Reporting. Lee is deeply involved in nonprofit journalism and is a co-founder of Underscore.

As a Logan Nonfiction fellow, Lee will focus on reporting and writing her second book, which probes the relationship between youth and climate change.
