Joanne McNeil
Joanne McNeil (2019) is a writer interested in the ways that technology is shaping art, politics and society. She was a 2015 winner of the Thoma Foundation Arts Writing Fellowship Award. Her writing has appeared in publications including The New York Times, The Baffler, Frieze and Domus. Her book, “Lurking,” will be published in the fall of 2019 by FSG.
During her time with the Logan Nonfiction Program, McNeil will focus on manuscript revisions. Her book covers all aspects of life as an Internet user with chapters on searching, identity, anonymity, visibility, privacy, safety and community. McNeil will also begin work on a new writing project concerning artificial intelligence and emotion surveillance.
