Adaeze Elechi

Adaeze Elechi (2019) is a Nigerian journalist, author, award-winning filmmaker and radio storyteller with over 10 years of professional experience. Her works are influenced by her desire to better understand the ways in which individual and collective histories (those remembered and those forgotten) shape our present understanding of ourselves. Her pieces have appeared in Guernica Magazine, Nashville Public Radio, The Africa Knowledge Project, Stylelikeu and mindbodygreen. Her original films have screened at the St. Louis International Film Festival and the San Diego Black Film Festival, among others. 

As a Logan Nonfiction fellow, Adaeze will work on her podcast, “Biafra In Portraits,” which aims to preserve as many memories of the Nigerian Civil War survivors as possible before they pass away from age and take their stories with them.
