Nonfiction Fellow Finbarr O’Reilly Writes About “Rediscovering Joy After War” in New York Times

Dear Friends of the Carey Nonfiction Program—

This past year, the renowned photojournalist Finbarr O’Reilly became a Carey Nonfiction Fellow, putting down his camera to write about the conflicts in Africa and the Middle East he had witnessed for more than ten years. It was part of a personal healing process started in 2014; the work had taken its toll. Now, with this piece in the New York Times Lens blog, Finbarr relates how he unexpectedly reconnected with life through the same lens he had used to document death.
