After a successful pilot in 2016, NeXt Doc will return to the Carey Institute from Monday, June 5 to Friday, June 9, 2017. The program will bring together a community of 15 emerging young filmmakers from across the country for five full days of intensive master classes, experiential workshops and screenings with award-winning documentary filmmakers and program educators.

This year’s presenting filmmakers include: Sabaah Folayan (Whose Streets?), Sonia Kennebeck (National Bird) and Samuel Pollard (Four Little Girls). Each filmmaker will offer a master class and a screening session of their latest films followed by an exclusive Q & A for participants. The opportunity to connect with, and learn from, these professional filmmakers is a one-of-a-kind experience for emerging filmmakers.

NeXt Doc is a collaborative project of the Carey Institute and YouthFX designed to cultivate the next generation of documentary filmmakers. Other program partners include The Alliance for Media, Arts + Culture, Firelight Media, MediaStorm and the D-Word.
