Logan Nonfiction Program Alumnus Matt Young Receives Critical Acclaim

Matthew Young’s “Eat the Apple” (Bloomsbury) was released last week to glowing reviews. In “Eat the Apple,” Young, a Fall 2015 Logan Nonfiction alumnus, shares his experience of three deployments in Iraq, interrogating the absurdism of 21st-century war and openhandedly examining his own complicated motivations.

In an admiring review, NPR’s Maureen Corrigan calls the book a “brilliant and barbed memoir of the Iraq War” and refers to Young as a “frank, funny and mercilessly self-lacerating narrator.” The book also received a positive review in the New York Times, where Mark Bowden called the book “inventive, unsparing, irreverent and consistently entertaining.”

Young joins a number of his fellow Logan Nonfiction alumni who have published to significant critical acclaim.
