The Carey Center explores the state of journalism
Rensselaerville, NY—Celebrated investigative journalist and author Carl Bernstein discusses “Is Journalism Dead?” at the Carey Center for Global Good on Sunday, January 20, at 6 p.m. The Carey Center campus is located at the end of NYS Route 85 in Rensselaerville.
Mr. Bernstein will headline as the first guest of a new Carey Center series entitled “Carey Dialogues for Global Good.”
“Convening conversations with world-class thinkers has been a tradition in Rensselaerville since the 1920s. The Carey Dialogues for Global Good revive this tradition,” said Carol Ash, President of the Carey Center for Global Good. “The Dialogues will bring together innovative and dynamic people from around the world to discuss issues affecting our communities today.”
Interviewing Mr. Bernstein will be award-winning essayist Lance Morrow, author of eight books and over 150 Time Magazine cover stories, and two-time Pulitzer Prize winner Josh Friedman. The conversation will focus on journalism today and its future through the 21st Century.
“Journalism has changed almost beyond recognition since the days when Carl and I started out together as boy reporters for the Washington Star —a newspaper that expired a long time ago”, said Lance Morrow, award-winning essayist. “Carl has been part of the history, and it will be fascinating to talk to him about it. He has very strong opinions about what has happened.”
“Carl is the perfect person to kick off our Carey Dialogues,” stated Josh Friedman, two-time Pulitzer Prize winner. “His hard work, determination and strong ethics blazed the trail for my generation of journalists and those that have followed.”
Future Carey Dialogues for Global Good include:
February 9: Alexander Sanger, Chair of International Planned Parenthood Council
April 6: Eugene Linden, Author, “The Ragged Edge of the World”, “Winds of Change”, and “The Future in Plain Sight”.
All events are open to the public. There will be a $5 entry charge. Beverages before the event and light fare after the event will be available. Doors will open at 5:30.
