Susan M. Story has been an artist all of her life, having grown up in an artistic family in the NYC suburbs. She attended Parsons School of Design for Fashion Design, working in the industry for a dozen years. She turned to fine art after moving to upstate New York with her family. “I am drawn to the landscape. The image I convey to the viewer is a very personal one. In my paintings, I strive to express the emotions I experience when observing and being present with my subject in nature. I’m intrigued by complex interweaving of lines, textures, and shapes: the chaos, as well as the order of nature.”

A designated Master Pastelist of the Pastel Society of America, Susan also serves on its Board of Governors. She is a juried member of the Salmagundi Club in NYC, as well as the Academic Artist’s Association, Audubon Artists, Hudson River Valley Art Association, and the Catherine Lorillard Wolf Club.

Susan has a comprehensive resume of solo exhibitions, and both juried and invitational group exhibitions. She has been selected to show at the Butler Institute, Slater memorial Museum, International Pastel Associations Of Pastel Socities, Pastel Association of Taiwan International Show and the Guggenheim Pavilion. She has been the honored recipient of many awards and medals from national exhibitions. Susan and her work were featured in the Pastel Journal Magazine, October 2015 and is also featured in the new F&W publication, Pure Pastel, as one of the top 100 contemporary pastel artists.
