Center for Learning in Practice: Making Connections Around the World

The Center for Learning in Practice, while barely six months old, is establishing our value to the education and humanitarian community, making friends and connections with dozens of organizations around the world. We have been validating our vision that sustainable learning is an important strategy to help improve outcomes for learners of all ages.

In March we are participating in  No Lost Generation, an invitation-only event in Amman, Jordon. Both Carey Institute president and CEO Gareth Crawford and Center for Learning in Practice Director Dr. Diana Woolis will be attending.  Diana has also been invited to speak about teacher professional development and technology-based tools for reflective practice, a critical method for practice improvement. While in Amman, Gareth and Diana will be meeting with foundations and leaders of humanitarian organizations to advocate for our sustainable learning model for teachers-of-teachers of refugees.

Also in March, hundreds of learning providers around the world will convene in our online event, Action for Teachers of Refugees. By following key recommendations of the International Network for Education in Emergencies (INEE), our goal is to identify pathways to action that respond to the UN Sustainable Development goal to ensure inclusive and quality education for all and promote lifelong learning by increasing the supply of qualified teachers.

The conversation will focus on opportunities at the intersection of sustainable, effective pedagogies for teachers-of-teachers.

The first publication of the Center for Learning in Practice will be a synthesis of the insights, experience and expertise gathered in this “massively” open sharing of practice.
