The Carey Institute for Global Good is dedicated to making a better world by contributing to a strong, educated and just society.  The roots of the Carey Institute estate date back to 1924 when students from around the world gathered to promote global understanding that could lead to peaceful resolutions of differences following World War I. When the Institute was founded in 2011 with a generous seed gift from the friends and family of Wm. Polk Carey, as well as the W.P. Carey Foundation, our goal was to support Bill’s vision of re-establishing this original spirit of dynamic inquiry to create meaningful change in the world. 

Today, the Institute is tackling some of the most challenging issues of our times through programs that strengthen democracy, improve professional learning and knowledge sharing in the education sector and contribute to a more sustainable future for rural economies. 

FULL-TIME COMMUNICATIONS ASSISTANT                                      

$ – Hourly wage commensurate with experience

In collaboration with the Manager of External Affairs, the Communications Assistant will assist in executing the organization’s public relations strategy for its programs, including the Logan Nonfiction Program, Sustainable Communities, and the Center for Learning in Practice, as well as the marketing strategy for meetings and weddings hosted on campus’ conference center. Key responsibilities include:

  • Writing and distributing press releases
  • Developing and maintaining program collateral
  • Developing and maintaining conference center marketing collateral
  • Executing and evaluating marketing campaigns
  • Website maintenance and optimization
  • Google Adwords Management
  • Promoting special events
  • Social media management

Successful candidates will have:

  • Excellent writing and communications skills
  • Excellent computer skills
  • Excellent evaluation and analysis skills
  • Digital communications skills including:
    • Wordpress
    • Adobe Creative Cloud, including Photoshop and InDesign
    • Mailchimp
    • HTML and CSS editing skills
    • Google Adwords (managed in Wordstream) and Adroll retargeting
    • Meltwater press distribution system
    • Social media platforms including Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, Instagram and Pinterest
    • CRM systems, including Salesforce
